As a professional photographer, we all belong to lots of photographer forums and groups. There's lots of education and experience to trade and so many photographers are so incredibly knowledgeable and helpful!
One thing I've come across in my foray into the boudoir world lately is just how many photographers offer alcohol during the hair and makeup portion of their session.
I want to tell you why I don't want alcohol in my sessions. I won't offer it, and I highly discourage you from drinking prior to or during your session.
First and foremost, I want it to be ME, myself, who makes you comfortable. I want you to walk into my home, a big ol' bundle of nerves and be greeted by Frances and myself and you go "OH! This is going to be okay! They're not nearly as scary as I was thinking!" I want Frances and I to be the ones to calm you, to hype you, to give you your confidence. We will joke and laugh, shoot the shit. It'll be like you're hanging out with your girlfriends, listening to music and just having fun.
Booze has it's time and place, but I really don't like the idea of giving you alcohol at 9am on a Tuesday morning in order for you to feel comfortable with me. I don't like the idea that you may possibly have too much, and have regrets. That booze is the reason you pushed yourself further than you would have soberly and regret poses or outfits that you wouldn't have chosen otherwise. Or having to drive home after having a few drinks at my home.
I have wayyy back in the day shot people who had drinks and I found it made their skin too flushed and their eyes too heavy.
I don't want alcohol getting the credit for anything, quite frankly! Call it what you want, but I LOVE when women tell me how comfortable I made them feel.
I'm not lying when I tell you that you hype me just as much as I hype you. And I don't want alcohol stealing my glory!
So while mimosas have their place, we can do that another time together, after I take all the credit for how amazing you feel after your session with me!
